What are the purposes, costs and benefits of a Thai company in 2025. DBD & Revenue Dept data.

In 2025, company registration in Thailand remains popular among foreign investors, but its purpose and structure have changed dramatically. While in 2011 you chose between 'a company for property' and 'a business with work permit', today's key trends are LTR (Long-Term Resident), digital nomads, and EEC investments.

According to the Department of Business Development (DBD), over 12,000 companies with foreign participation were registered in 2024. Most popular sectors: IT, EV, tourism, education, real estate.

What Are the Company Purposes in 2025?

  • Property ownership: via Co., Ltd. (up to 49% of area);
  • Long-term residency: director can get a 10-year LTR visa;
  • Digital business: online services, blockchain, SaaS;
  • EEC investments: manufacturing, logistics, tech;
  • Asia brand presence: local legal entity for market entry.

  • AML/CTF: banks require proof of fund origin;

  • Digital documents: e-Chanote, e-Seal, e-Signature;
  • Long-Term Residency: alternative to Non-B visa with tax benefits.

Outlook 2025–2030

Expected:

  • Growth in foreign companies in EEC (especially EV, AI, biotech);
  • Development of smart contracts and blockchain registries for corporate governance;
  • Global recognition of Thailand’s registration system as one of the world’s most transparent;
  • Rise in digital nomads using Thai companies for remote business.

"A Thai company isn’t just a shell. It’s part of a global strategy," said corporate law expert Thanawat Phongphanit. "In 2025, transparency, responsibility, and long-term vision matter most."
