In October 2016, Russian airline S7 Airlines launched a regular direct flight between Vladivostok and Bangkok. Flights operated once a week on Mondays using a Boeing 767 with a capacity of 240 passengers. The flight time was about 7 hours. Before that, residents of the Russian Far East could only reach Thailand via charter flights or with layovers in China, South Korea, or Japan.
What’s the situation in 2025?
As of summer 2025, S7 Airlines no longer operates direct flights on the Vladivostok–Bangkok route. The airline has discontinued service on this route, and there are no direct flights between these cities in S7’s current schedule.
Indirect flights remain available — for example, Aeroflot via Moscow, or other carriers with connections in Asian hubs (Seoul, Tokyo, Hanoi).
However, since 2023, Aeroflot has launched regular direct flights between Vladivostok and Bangkok. As of 2025, the airline operates 1–2 flights per week. Flight duration is approximately 6 hours 55 minutes. Ticket prices start from 30,000 RUB one way.
Why did S7 stop flying?
After the introduction of international sanctions in 2022, S7 Airlines was forced to suspend several international routes. The main reason was the deterioration of its fleet condition — due to restrictions on spare parts for Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft, the airline had to ground a significant portion of its fleet.
In addition, international flight logistics became more complex, and the economic viability of certain routes, including Vladivostok–Bangkok, decreased. As a result, the route was removed from the schedule.
What travelers need to know in 2025
- Direct flights are available: Aeroflot offers regular non-stop flights from Vladivostok to Bangkok 1–2 times per week.
- Alternatives: You can choose flights with one stopover via Moscow, Seoul, Tokyo, or other Asian hubs.
- Pricing: Direct flight tickets start from 30,000 RUB, but prices rise during peak season (December–February).
- Flight time: Non-stop flights take about 7 hours; connecting flights take 10+ hours.
Conclusion
Although S7 Airlines once provided a convenient route for Far Eastern travelers, by 2025 it no longer operates direct flights between Vladivostok and Bangkok. However, tourists are not without options: Aeroflot has taken over as the main carrier, offering regular direct service. When planning a trip, it’s advisable to monitor schedules and compare prices to find the most comfortable and cost-effective option.
