In 2025, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) continues to actively engage Russian travelers — but without traditional fan clubs. Instead of parties and lotteries like in 2012, TAT now uses digital technology, artificial intelligence, and personalized marketing to effectively attract one of Thailand’s key tourist markets.
According to TAT and Google Travel Insights, Russia is among the top 5 source markets for Thailand in 2024–2025. Over 850,000 Russians visited the country last year, accounting for about 9% of total arrivals.
How Does TAT Reach Russians in 2025?
The agency uses modern communication channels:
- Russian-language website: thailand.net.ru — with itineraries, tips, weather;
- Mobile apps: Amazing Thailand (iOS & Android) — navigation, booking, cashback;
- Social media: Telegram, VK, YouTube, Instagram with content from influencers and guides;
- Chatbots: on LINE and Telegram — 24/7 support;
- Personalized newsletters: based on interests (beaches, spas, eco-tours, shopping).
New Tourist Destinations
Beyond Phuket and Pattaya, TAT promotes:
- Khao Lak & Ranong — nature lovers and rock climbers;
- Isan (Udon Thani, Khon Kaen) — cultural tourism and local cuisine;
- Hua Hin & Cha-Am — family holidays and golf;
- Islands Ko Chang, Ko Mak, Ko Kut — secluded beach getaways.
Programs for Russians
In 2025, special initiatives launched:
- Thailand Welcome Card: up to 30% off at hotels, restaurants, spas;
- Digital Tourist Passport: combines visa, insurance, metro card, coupons;
- Spa Packages: partnerships with Kinnari Spa, Let’s Relax, Banyan Tree;
- Winter Festivals: Russian-speaking events in Phuket and Bangkok.
Airline Support
National carrier Thai Airways has restored direct flights:
- Bangkok – Moscow (daily);
- Phuket – Moscow (3x weekly, seasonal);
- Bangkok – St. Petersburg (spring–autumn).
Convenient connections also available via Bangkok Airways and Thai Vietjet.
Medical & Long-Stay Tourism
Russians increasingly choose Thailand not only for leisure but also for:
- Medical check-ups: clinics Bangkok Hospital, Bumrungrad offer full health screenings;
- Long-term stays: under LTR (Long-Term Resident) visa;
- Digital nomads: co-living spaces in Pattaya and Chiang Mai.
Outlook 2025–2026
Expected:
- Growth to 1 million Russian visitors per year;
- Launch of VR tours of Thailand for trip planning;
- Development of smart tourism zones with AI guides;
- International recognition of Thailand’s personalized tourism model.
"We don’t just invite — we create experiences," said TAT Europe Director Sirasak Trapanporn. "Russian tourists are part of our family."
