From January 22 to 26, 2025, Pattaya will host the 14th Pattaya International Boxing Tournament — one of the key youth amateur boxing events in Southeast Asia. Organized by the Pattaya City Council, Chonburi Boxing Association, and Thailand Amateur Boxing Association, with support from Chang and Central Pattana.

Format & Participants 2025

This year, the tournament brings together 142 young boxers aged 15 to 19 from 18 countries, including:

  • Thailand (32 athletes);
  • Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan (CIS — 28);
  • Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia (ASEAN+ — 35);
  • Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France (Europe & Oceania — 22);
  • India, Nepal, Sri Lanka (South Asia — 25).

Competition follows IBA (International Boxing Association) rules across 10 weight classes (48 kg to 92 kg).

Venue

In 2025, the main venue is the Chang International Boxing Stadium in Naklua — a modern indoor arena with 2,500 seats, video replay judging, and live streaming.

Previously, from 2010–2015, fights were held in Central Festival’s courtyard, but since 2019, the tournament has moved to a dedicated facility.

Goals & Mission

Beyond sport, the tournament addresses key social issues:

  • Identifying young talent for Thailand’s national team;
  • Supporting at-risk youth — 30% of participants from rehabilitation programs;
  • Promoting healthy lifestyles free from drugs and alcohol;
  • Boosting sports tourism in Pattaya.

"Boxing is not just strength, but discipline, respect, and character," said Pattaya Mayor Somkhund Suksumphang. "We’re proud that our city is a platform for international dialogue through sport."

Charity & Education

The "Boxing for the Future" charity campaign included:

  • Fundraising for sports equipment in 12 schools;
  • Granting educational scholarships to 15 boxers from low-income families;
  • Masterclasses by legends of Muay Thai and Western boxing.

Outlook 2025–2026

Expected:

  • Inclusion in the IBA Youth Series calendar;
  • Expansion of women’s categories (2025: pilot exhibition match);
  • Growth of sports camps for international youth;
  • Integration of biometric monitoring and AI fight analysis.

Winners will receive certificates, medals, and invitations to international events, including World Youth Championship qualifiers.
