In 2025, Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports continues its strategy for sustainable and balanced tourism development. As Minister Sudaphol Wattanavaranakul stated, key priorities for the year include infrastructure modernization, attracting foreign tourists from ASEAN countries, and boosting domestic tourism.
Transport Network Expansion
A top priority is improving connectivity between major cities and provinces. Pilot projects are launching this year to expand regional bus and rail routes, including new express bus lines from Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima, Udon Thani, and Hat Yai.
Additionally, the Ministries of Transport and Tourism are developing an integrated tourism mobility map that will unify schedules, bookings, and payments across the country — including for international visitors.
Focus on ASEAN Tourists
ASEAN countries are a key target market. In 2025, Thailand is intensifying marketing campaigns in Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore, offering special tour packages, simplified visa policies, and loyalty programs.
Special emphasis is placed on young travelers and MICE tourism (meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions), positioning Thailand as a regional hub for business travel.
Boosting Domestic Tourism
To encourage local travel, the "Tourism for All Thais" (เที่ยวทั่วไทย) campaign offers subsidies on accommodation, ticket discounts, and cashback for Thai citizens. The focus is on lesser-known provinces such as Nan, Mukdahan, Trang, and Phetchabun.
The ministry also supports seasonal festivals and local events to attract visitors year-round.
New Destination: Ko Mueang Sing & Andaman Coast
In 2025, special attention is given to Ko Mueang Sing in Ranong Province — a promising destination near the Myanmar border. The island is being developed as an eco-cultural tourism cluster focused on sustainable trekking, diving, and community-based hospitality.
The project includes building eco-friendly resorts, upgrading marine infrastructure, and launching charter flights from Phuket and Bangkok.
Digital Initiatives
Thailand is rolling out digital tools: tourists can use the official TAT Visit Thailand app for bookings, discounts, and navigation. The country is also expanding e-visas and LTR visas to facilitate long-term stays.
"Our goal is to make tourism accessible, sustainable, and beneficial for all regions," emphasized the tourism minister.
With these initiatives, Thailand strengthens its position as a leading destination in Southeast Asia, combining tradition, nature, and modern infrastructure.
